OXON: A stonemasonry firm found guilty of corporate manslaughter has had a date set for its sentencing.

Cavendish Masonry is facing a large financial penalty after being convicted of a gross breach of its duty of care to employee David Evans, who died on February 9, 2010.

The 23-year-old stonemason’s mate was killed by a two-tonne block of limestone, which toppled over after being lowered into place by a crane at the Well Barn Estate in Moulsford, near Wallingford.

The Bristol and Bath-based company will now be sentenced at Oxford Crown Court on November 18.
