Smash leaves pair fighting for their lives
Two elderly patients were airlifted to hospital with potentially life-threatening injuries after a road accident yesterday.
Emergency services were called to the A4074 northbound at the Wallingford Roundabout in Crowmarsh Gifford at about 3.15pm.
It is believed the accident involved two cars, a Vauxhall Vectra and Ford Kuga, in a head-on collision, right.
Thames Valley Police inspector Mark Webber-Gant said: “The patients are both elderly and so their condition has been exacerbated by their age.
“So as such, their condition is possibly life-threatening.
“Early indications show the cars crashed head-on, but investigations will establish exactly what happened.
“We’ll have more information once the dust settles.”
Fire crews used cutting equipment to gain access to the Vectra, before an air ambulance took the patients to the John Radcliffe Hospital.
Drivers at the scene reported seeing a white car crashed into a fence on the side of the road.
It is unknown which vehicle the two patients were travelling in.
The road was closed while investigations were carried out.
