NOW here's a bright idea: primary pupils raised £1,300 for terminally-ill children their own age with a fluorescent fun-run.
Children at St Joseph's Catholic Primary School, Thame, ran 77 laps around the town recreation ground in aid of Helen and Douglas House children's hospice in Oxford.
That distance – 30.8 miles – is the same as the distance from the school to the hospice in East Oxford and back again.
The 11-year-olds donned fluorescent fancy dress for the stunt on Wednesday and also sold cakes in the school playground.
By asking family and friends to sponsor their high-vis high-jinx the Year six students raised £1,300 for the hospice.
Spokeswoman Rachel Fisher said the cause was close to a lot of the children's hearts, as the hospice has helped several families in the school.
People can still sponsor the children online at justgiving.com/fundraising/StJosephs-Year6
