A COLLABORATION with Japanese horticulturalists is continuing to bear fruit at Harcourt Arboretum.

The Oxford University attraction, in Nuneham Courtenay, is about to begin its fourth year of a special project, which has seen staff using Japanese plants and visiting Tokyo University’s Koishikawa Botanical Gardens.

Work involves collecting seeds of indigenous plant species and botanical surveys. This month staff have been planting Katsura trees.

Arboretum curator Ben Jones said: “Throughout the project our intention is to strengthen relationships between the University of Oxford Botanic Garden and Harcourt Arboretum (OBGHA) and colleagues in Japan to share and develop skills, knowledge and experience, and to promote collaborative working to support the interests of both our Japanese partners and OBGHA.
