Ann Ducker, who died last month
John Cotton has been chosen as the new leader of South Oxfordshire District Council.
Conservative Mr Cotton was voted in as leader at a meeting of the council on Thursday.
Mr Cotton, who represents the Sandford ward, follows Ann Ducker as leader.
Mrs Ducker died last month after serving on the council for more than 30 years.
Mr Cotton said: “I am delighted. Ann is a tough act to follow.”
