YOU have until midnight to register to vote in May's local elections.

Half of all councillors will be elected in Oxford as part of the city council's elections on May 3.

Other votes will be held across West Oxfordshire and Cherwell districts.

Everyone who votes must re-register every time they move house.

They can change registration details each time and it is easy to do online.

You must register online at gov.uk/register-to-vote if you want to take part.

If you want to vote through a postal vote, you have to register by 5pm tomorrow, April 18.

And alternatively, if you want a proxy vote application, you have until 5pm on April 25.

In Oxford, all 24 wards will have ballots.

As part of those, one of two seats in each ward will be elected. Other councillors who were elected two years ago in each ward will serve until 2020.

Anita Bradley, Oxford City Council’s returning officer, said: “Taking part in this country’s democratic process is a well-founded right, but it is one that you can only take part in if you are registered."

In Cherwell district, 16 councillors will be elected. One of three councillors in each of its 16 wards were due to be elected but the Bicester West election will be postponed following the death of Tory candidate Jolanta Lis on Friday.

Two councillors will be elected in Cropredy, Sibfords and Wroxton seat after former councillor Ken Atack resigned after he moved from the area.
