A LORRY carrying a large wooden structure caused havoc in Bicester after getting wedged under a railway bridge.
The HGV managed to get under the railway bridge at the junction where Buckingham Road meets Bucknell Road but got wedged by the roof trusses it was carrying.
It blocked one lane, while police diverted traffic around it.
The incident happened during the rush hour about 9am and Thames Valley Police, British Transport Police and Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue worked for a couple of hours to free the lorry.
Oxfordshire County Council fire and rescue service spokesman Martin Crabtree said: “The fire and rescue service received a call from Thames Valley Police at around 10.30am.
“The HGV was unloaded, moved and reloaded and the fire service handed the incident back to police just after 11am.”
The crash meant commuters were backed up along Howes Lane and Bucknell Road itself but no trains were disrupted due to the crash.
