OXFORD United fans will pack out buses and trains as they travel in hope of witnessing silverware being won at Wembley in the Checkatrade Trophy Final.

More than 28,000 tickets have been sold to members The Yellow Army so far and today is the deadline for supporters to purchase tickets online for match against Coventry City on Sunday afternoon.

With the game kicking off in the capital at 2.30pm, fans are urged to ensure they plan journeys to make it to the national stadium in plenty of time.

Oxford Bus Company are backing the U’s to Wembley with a £12 return ‘football special ticket’ on its X90 service, which allows one ticket holder to take three children under 16 free of charge.

The bus company are also donating £1 from every ticket sold to the Oxford United Community Trust.

The coaches will drive to Hillingdon - about one hour depending on traffic - and fans can get the Metropolitan line on the underground to Wembley Park.

Tickets can be purchased in the bus company’s travel shops in High Street and Gloucester Green, and from their kerbside ticket sellers in Gloucester Green and Thornhill Park and Ride.

Fans can also buy tickets on the mobile app and the offer is open when leaving the city before midday on Sunday.

Supporters travelling by rail have been urged to use Oxford Parkway Station, but can get a train from Oxford, with carriages expected to reach capacity throughout the morning.

Chiltern Railways has scheduled extra trains and lengthened services to run direct to Wembley before and after the game.

Justin Baines, commercial director at Chiltern Railways said: “It’s the second year running that we have seen Oxford United at Wembley and it will no doubt be an exciting event.

“To help get everyone to the event quickly and easily we’ve added extra capacity to the services that will transport fans to and from Wembley Stadium station.”

High-capacity trains from Oxford Parkway to Wembley Stadium will depart at 7.49am, 8.16am, 8.46am, 9.08am, 9.39am, 9.56am, 10.14am, 10.25am, 10.40am, 11.08am, 11.13am, 11.43am, 12.14pm, 12.44pm and 1.15pm.

Those travelling from the Bicester area are advised to travel from Bicester North.

Other supporters have plumped for the club’s London Road travel club coaches setting off from the Kassam Stadium.

The company has transported fans to away matches for more than 35 years and under-14s must be accompanied by responsible adult.
