IT has a reputation as the poshest music festival in the land, with black tie and ball gowns de rigueur, but this year's Henley Festival is set to raise temperatures with a line-up of pop, disco and drum & bass.

Chart-toppers Pet Shop Boys, singer Jess Glynne, funk artist Chaka Khan, drum & bass legend Goldie and pop act All Saints have been revealed as this year's headliners, all playing the festival's floating stage on the Thames, between July 5 and 9.

The line-up is something of a departure for Henley, which has previously leaned towards classical and opera, with the likes of Katherine Jenkins, Bryn Terfel and Nigel Kennedy delighting the dapper crowd. However, it has also played host to Bryan Ferry, Tom Jones and, last year, Elton John – whose performance was declared Headline Performance of the Year at the 2016 Festival awards.

Multiple Brit Award winners Pet Shop Boys are touring their Number 3 album Super while Jess Glynne, who had hits with Hold My Hand and Don't Be So Hard on Yourself, is showcasing her debut I Cry When I Laugh.

Goldie will be joined by the Heritage Orchestra, to perform his album Timeless. The show follows a triumphant set with the orchestra at west Oxfordshire's Wilderness festival.

Also appearing are Geno Washington and the Ram Jam Band, Vonda Shepard and The Stax Band, Ruby Turner, Brother Strutt, with comedy from Russell Kane, Sara Pascoe, Andy Parsons, Seann Walsh, Mark Dolan, Matt Forde, Mitch Benn, Paul Sinha and Nish Kumar among the comedy offerings.

Henley Festival organiser Charlotte Geeves said: "We’re really excited about this year’s line-up. The Pet Shop Boys are one of my all-time favourite bands and their iconic music combined with the biggest production we’ve ever seen at Henley Festival will be a night to remember.

"Bringing a diverse range of artists to the festival is really important to us and this year’s line-up showcases our commitment to excellence in programming. From Jess Glynne to Chaka Khan, to Goldie and the Heritage Orchestra to All Saints we’ve covered four decades of music and are confident there’s something that will appeal to everyone."
