ALL creatures great and small love Helen Peacocke's new pondweed smoothie.
In fact, they've been wolfing it down.
The former Oxford Times columnist launched her smoothie and a book of 24 other recipes involving spirulina algae at Kennington Village Fete last Saturday.
The Eynsham author is selling her Green Power cookbook to raise money for Abingdon charity the Nasio Trust, which supports vulnerable Kenyan orphans.
In fact, the charity's latest project is farming fast-growing spirulina as a cheap source of protein in Kenya, and Mrs Peacocke, inspired by the scheme, came up with a whole book full of fun recipe ideas including pondweed pasties and even dog biscuits.
Although this hungry hound clearly was not fussy about whether he eats dog food or human food.
Pound-for-pound, the vibrant green weed which grows in tropical ponds and lakes has more protein than beef, and also grows very quickly.
