A GROUP of Turkish barbers are determined to bring the classic wet shave back with the opening of a new salon in Witney.

The family business has been set up by brothers Ismail and Mustafa Aksahin, and cousin Ali Senkoy, who spent two years choosing the perfect town to relocate to.

Mustafa, 28, said they originally had a barbers shop in Southend in Essex but felt it was time to change.

He said: "There was not a Turkish barbers in Witney and we wanted to set one up where there wasn't one.

"We are offering all the traditional Turkish things, such as a wet shave and steaming."

The barbers, named Cousinz, is based in High Street.

The trio are also receiving help from a third Aksahin brother, Mehmet.

They now want to spread the word of their arrival and invite people in to try a unique Turkish experience.

Mustafa added: "We were thinking about where to go for a very long time – about two years – and we wanted to find a good place.

"We didn't want one too small. Witney seemed perfect. It is a really lovely place. We really like it here.

"We live in Abingdon at the moment but want to move to Witney when we find somewhere."

The cousins first moved to England when they were just teenagers. Mustafa has worked in the barber trade for about 10 years.

He is even encouraging people sporting beards – which have grown in popularity recently – to try a wet shave instead.

Since their opening the men have had a positive reception, with men popping in for a pamper.

Customers have praised the owners for offering Turkish tea on arrival, hot towels, a steam and shoulder massage.
