Oxfordshire’s most unwanted: Reggie the Great Dane Cross
Aaron Denton, assistant warden at Oxfordshire Animal Sanctuary in Stadhampton
Reggie has lived at The Oxfordshire Animal Sanctuary for a very long time – about eight years now. Being a Great Dane cross, he is big and very strong, but he is also very friendly once he gets to know you and, at 10 years old, still like to play.
There are lots of prettier dogs at the sanctuary and no one seems to want Reggie. We don’t know why that is because he tries so hard to be good. Reggie just wants to find someone to love him, but it would need to be someone nice and strong as he is a big boy. Reggie would need someone willing to give him time to adjust and forgive him if he make a few mistakes. He has been living in a kennel such a long time that it may take him a little while to settle down so he would need a quiet home with no children.
Reggie sometimes has problems with his ears and needs medication but he is not a fan of vets. Also, don’t tell anyone, but he is very frightened of moving traffic and does try to chase it away because it scares him.
If you think you could love a big older boy like Reg he would be so happy. It has been so long since he had a home of his own and someone to cuddle up to on a comfy sofa.
If you could make his dreams come true please contact Rachel or Iain on 01865 890239 or email iain@oascharity.org.uk
Thank you for reading Reggie's story – he has all four paws crossed.
