THE Oxford City Stars, the city's hockey team, will swap their puck for something a bit softer during their game against the Streatham Redskins this Sunday: a bunch of Teddy bears.
The players have invited fans to bring fluffy new teddies wrapped in a clear plastic bag as they come to watch the game at the Oxford Ice Rink.
The cuddly toys will be put into a teddy toss, meaning they will land on the ice when the home team scores its first goal.
They will then be donated to children at the John Radcliffe Hospital when the team visits the wards this Christmas.
Spectators can bring several teddy bears and each will earn them an entry into a draw to win a season ticket.
There will also be collection buckets as the team will raise funds to buy more toys for the children.
