DRIVERS heading for London on the M40 this morning have been facing major delays following an accident involving two lorries and a car.

There was traffic tailing back for about seven miles after the crash at junction six for Watlington, with drivers starting to queue from junction eight at Oxford.

Lane one was blocked from about 6.30am, and reopened at about 10.20am.

South Central Ambulance Service spokeswoman Michelle Archer said two patients were treated following the collision.

She added: "One person was taken to Wexham Park Hospital in Slough after suffering serious head injuries.

"The other patient, a man, was taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital with minor head injuries."

A spokesman for Oxfordshire Fire Service said one of the lorries involved was thought to have been carrying chocolate.
