FINANCIAL advisors will don a rainbow of colourful clothing to raise cash for the county’s sick youngsters and adults.

Staff at Focus, in Seacourt Tower, are preparing to take part in the Rainbow Run in Cutteslowe Park tomorrow.

It is the second time fundraisers across the county will put on their running shoes to raise cash for East Oxford’s Helen and Douglas House.

Business development executive at Focus Sean Curran said: “Helen and Douglas House relies on the contributions of fundraisers to help terminally ill children and young adults as well as their families.

“Without them, a lot of children, young adults and families would miss out on such an amazing force of support. The Rainbow Run is a fun and colourful way of fundraising and is completely different to other events.

“What Team Focus are looking forward to most is completing the run as a team and being covered in paint.

“ It should be a really enjoyable experience.”

The first Rainbow Run, which was held in University Parks, raised more than £30,000 for terminally ill children and adults who spend time at the Magdalen Road hospice.

Staff and volunteers at the hospice are hoping this year’s fundraiser, which will cater for 1,500 runners, will gather close to £50,000.

They need to raise more than £5 million each year just to continue running its services, including outreach programmes, medical care, sibling support programmes and a bereavement team.

Helen House opened in 1982 and was the world’s first children’s hospice. Douglas House opened in 2004.
