A NEW website service providing information about mental health, community nursing and social care has been made with children and young people in mind.

Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust, which operates community hospitals and mental health services in the county, launched the website on Monday.

The website provides information about the trust’s services such as clubs and support for young carers and how to access school nursing services.

There is also information about who children should contact if they are worried about being poorly treated, or their development is being stunted.

In the website, children and young people also have the opportunity to give their views on the health services through Facebook comments.

Project manager Oliver Shipp said: “Children and young people told us that they need accessible and reliable information about their services.

“For many, this meant looking on the web, usually on their smartphones.

“They wanted information which was easy to find, attractive to view and appropriate to their age and location.

“But they weren’t getting this from our original web pages which were incomplete, hard to view and navigate, and boring to look at.”

Patient experience co-ordinator Donna Mackenzie added: “While this is a great improvement, we are now working with the young people to further develop the site, including more artwork and videos.”
