CULT Icelandic pop icon Bjork has been announced as the headline act for this year’s Wilderness Festival.
The groundbreaking artist will join an eclectic line-up of international names, from the world’s of rock, folk and jazz at the three-day gathering at Cornbury Park, near Charlbury.
Also playing the event, held on a deer park owned by Lord and Lady Rotherwick from August 6-9, are jazz-funk act George Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic, singer-songwriter Ben Howard, alternative rock artist and former Portico Quartet member Nick Mulvey, and Moloko star Roisin Murphy.
More music comes from Nils Frahm, Caravan Palace, Hercules & Love Affair, Brandt Bauer Frick Ensemble, Benjamin Clementine Ibibio Sound Machine, Will & The People, The Travelling Folk Barn, Woodburner Music, Two for Joy, The Local & The English Folk Dance & Song Society, The Wilderness Orchestra, Karaorchestra and The Wilderness Choir.
Food remains a major part of the festival, with cooking by Angela Hartnett, Hix, Petersham Nurseries and Moro, and banquets hosted by Nuno Mendes of London’s Chiltern Firehouse; Scott Hallsworth of Kurobuta, James Knappett of Bubbledogs, and Neil Borthwick of Shoreditch’s Merchants Tavern.
The line-up news follows recent announcements from other Oxfordshire festivals, with dance act Basement Jaxx playing Truck, in Steventon; soul-pop band Treetop Flyers playing Wood, near Wallingford; and Emmylou Harris playing Fairport’s Cropredy Convention.
Multi-instrumentalist Bjork will be showcasing music from her latest project Vulnicura. The show is her only scheduled UK festival appeareance.
