Geese have now been cleared from the M40 between junction 8a for Oxford and 9 for Bicester.
A rolling road block was in place to help clear them from the road.
Thames Valley Police said they received a number of calls from members of the public about the birds. A spokeswoman said some motorists tried to shoo them off the road but the Highways Agency arrived and had to close one lane to remove them.
Nobody was injured.
