FORECASTERS have predicted snow will fall in Oxfordshire for the next three days.

And by Wednesday experts warn temperatures could plummet to -6c.

The Met Office has issued warnings for snow and ice until Thursday.

Snow flurries are likely to continue falling throughout the day today, however heavy rain is also expected.

The sleet could creating potentially hazardous conditions for drivers, and police have warned motorists to take care following a spate of accidents across Thames Valley this morning.

Last night Oxfordshire County Council sent its fleet of gritters out to cover the major routes and said it is prepared for the bad weather.

Another safety warning has also been issued by South Central Ambulance service.

It recommended drivers had enough fuel, a mobile phone, an ice scraper, de-icer, blanket, shovel, jump leads, a warning triangle, a high-vis jacket, hot flask and food, in the event of getting trapped.

There are no school closures in Oxfordshire this morning but Springfield School in Witney is due to open later, from 9.30am.
