BAND Sgt Major Ady Higgs, pictured, has played The Last Post at the Turning the Pages ceremony for a decade.

But the emotion he feels as the names of Oxfordshire’s war dead are read out has not faded. The ceremony has been held every other month in the military chapel of Christ Church Cathedral for 15 years and took place again on Saturday. Names are read of five soldiers from the Queen’s Own Oxfordshire Hussars killed in the First and Second World Wars and five from the Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry. After the names are read from the Book of Remembrance, one of its pages is then turned, which is where the ceremony gets its name.

The next Turning of the Pages is on Saturday, March 2.
