TODAY’S festive fugitive hiding behind our Badvent door for December 5 is 18-year-old Jake Goodwin, who is suspected of shoplifting vodka.

The teenager is the fifth face to be revealed in this year’s Oxford Mail and Thames Valley Police Badvent calendar for 2012.

Police have a warrant out for Goodwin’s arrest after he failed to attend Oxford Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, November 1.

He is wanted in connection with the theft of vodka from the Co-op store in Templars Square, Cowley.

Now police are hoping Oxford Mail readers will be able to locate him.

Last night Pc David Kuttner, from Oxford police, said: “It might not sound like a lot was stolen but theft will not be tolerated in Oxford.

“We believe Mr Goodwin is still in Oxford and has evaded all attempts by officers to capture him.

“It would be the perfect Christmas present for officers in Oxford to see Goodwin brought to court to face justice.”

Police believe Goodwin, from Croft Road, Marston, could be staying with friends around the city.

He is described as mixed-race, of slim build and about 5ft 5in tall.

He has a distinctive black crescent-shaped tattoo on his left cheek.

Anyone with information on Mr Goodwin’s whereabouts should contact Thames Valley Police on 101.

If you don’t want to speak directly to the police you can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on its 0800 555111 hotline or online at crimestoppers-uk.org.

No personal details are taken, information is not traced or recorded and you will not go to court.

Badvent is an annual initiative between the Oxford Mail and Thames Valley Police to locate suspects for the force.

This is the third year it has run.
