OUR latest seasonal suspect is this shopper who police say tried to steal more than £200 of cosmetics.

The man, who was captured on CCTV at the Lloyds Pharmacy store in Botley, is the third wanted man to be revealed in the Oxford Mail and Thames Valley Police’s Badvent calendar this year.

Police say he was caught on a CCTV camera starting to fill a bag with cosmetic items, including make-up and toiletries.

But when he was challenged by a member of staff at the shop, he pointed a pair of scissors at her and told her not to approach him.

He then left the shop.

The incident happened at the store in The Square on Tuesday, November 20, at about 6pm.

Each day in the run-up to Christmas, the Oxford Mail is featuring a different criminal suspect wanted by police in Oxfordshire as part of our Badvent calendar.

Case investigator Stephanie Chase said: “This was a time of day when a lot of people would have been shopping in Botley.

“The offender walked into a shop and just started taking things off the shelves.

“When challenged, he produced a weapon and this was frightening for the female staff member involved.

“It would be an excellent end to the year to see this man caught and brought to justice.”

The man captured in the CCTV images is described as white, very thin and about 6ft.

Police said he has brown hair with a fringe and several teeth missing, and he was wearing a brown jumper with green shirt and jeans.

Anyone with information should contact Ms Chase on 101 or contact the charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111 or online at www.crimestoppers-uk.org On Saturday, we published the faces of metal thief Mark Hendron and on-the-run drugs suspect Liam Rowe as part of the Badvent series.
