TWELVE residents of a flood-threatened nursing home were last night settling well into their new temporary home in Bicester.

Pensioners at The Old Prebendal House in Shipton-under-Wychwood were moved to other nearby care homes last Thursday evening as floodwater rose.

Luckily, recently-opened Langford View Care Home, in Coach House Mews, Bicester, was able to take 12 of the 33 residents.

Vivian Robson, 93, said: “It was very unexpected because there was virtually no warning.

“The rescue was extremely well organised and we have our own carers who we all know.

“This is a very nice place, everyone has been very kind and the food is good. I just hate being away from what I regard as my home and I long to be back there.”

Mr Robson was one of the residents who had to be rescued by boat from Old Prebendal House after the flooding in 2007.

Langford View Care Home manager Farida Ait-Tales said the evacuees arrived just after 10pm and were given a welcome cup of tea.

She said: “We opened on May 29 and we are in the process of moving residents in so we had 12 rooms empty. This came up as an emergency and we were happy to take them.”
