BRAINY brothers Jai and Krishan Patel chalked up an astonishing eight A* A-Level grades between them.

The Magdalen College School twins are now set to pursue a career in science like their hospital consultant father.

Jai scooped A*s in biology, chemistry, maths, further maths and physics.

Krishan took the top grade in biology, chemistry and maths and As in further maths and Spanish.

It came as the private school recorded another year of impressive results with 85 per cent getting A* or A grades, including another student with five A*s and 10 with four A*s.

School cricket team captain Jai, 18, said: “Seeing how hard my brother worked made me want to keep up, it was a massive motivation.

“It does make it more special having someone to go through it with, sharing in the joy as well.”

He will study medicine at Imperial College, London, while his brother will study natural sciences at Cambridge.

He said: “I am relieved but happy I have got my offer for uni.”

Dad Chetan Patel, a consultant eye surgeon at the John Radcliffe Hospital , Oxford, said he was thrilled with their results.

The Old Marston resident said: “I want these boys to do what they want to do, that is the only way you can be good at anything.

“I am very proud of the pair of them. I gave them a tough time, I am a tough dad, but it is their own efforts.”

All 130 students at the £13,932-a-year Cowley Place school passed this year, the first where girls have taken the exams. A third of students got A*s.

Also with double reason to celebrate were Katie and Emma Phipkin from Headington School, who both received three As.

Emma said: “It was literally the best news in the world. It’s a relief we both did so well. We’re going to different universities which will be weird but we’re looking forward to it.”
