CHILDREN visited Oxford Castle to learn about amazing artefacts that have been discovered around the county.
The event, organised by the Oxford Preservation Trust, included demonstrations and displays of historic food, weapons and medicine.
There were also talks about the recent finds as well as re-enactments by Oxford University students.
Items on display on Saturday included a trebuchet stone ball that was discovered in the ground of Oxford Castle by archaeologist Dan Poore in 2003.
His daughter, Tess Wyatt, 14, said: “Today has been pretty exciting. I am really interested in history and this helps bring it to life.”
Oxford University physics student Alasdair Knox, 20, took part in the re-enactment and dressed as Viking warrior Thorgrim. He said: “It's lovely to get the public interested in history and it has been great fun as well.”
