PROTESTERS camping out at Oxford Brookes University have entered their second week of occupation.
The group, calling themselves Occupy Brookes, set up at the university’s Gipsy Lane Campus in Headington on Wednesday, April 18.
They are protesting against tuition fee increases and want the university to abolish fee waivers in favour of increased bursaries.
There are now 10 tents on site, and protesters have organised communal meals, lectures and workshops.
English and anthropology student Ivana Popov, 21, said: “We are still waiting for a reply from the vice-chancellor, Janet Beer, to a letter we have sent.”
The university has said it believes its student funding support arrangements are fair and balanced and were decided following consultation with students.
