Health club is sold again

THE Oxfordshire Health and Racquets Club in the grounds of St Edward’s School off Woodstock Road has been sold again.

It is among five Virgin Active clubs to be sold by investment firm British Land, which bought 17 of the facilities for £179m from Societe Generale last July.

The clubs which are also in Gloucester, Neath, Manchester and Poole were sold for a total of £33m to three institutional buyers.

The buyer of the Oxford club, originally called Esporta, declined to be named.

Since Virgin took over, it seemed to me they acted like they didn't want to keep existing customers or try that hard for new ones. It's a nice place but it needs to be run properly.
