TWO brothers have been charged with nearly 30 new offences in an investigation into the alleged sexual exploitation of children in Oxford.

Mohammed and Bassan Karrar appeared at Milton Keynes Magistrates’ Court yesterday morning.

The pair spoke only to confirm their names and dates of birth.

The brothers were remanded in custody to next appear in Amersham in June.

The Karrars have been charged as part of Thames Valley Police’s Operation Bullfinch, which saw raids on addresses across Oxford on March 22.

So far, 15 men and one woman have been arrested. They include six men who have been charged.

Mohammed Karrar, of Cowley Road, East Oxford, had previously been charged with supplying cocaine to a child and two counts of conspiracy to rape a child under 13.

The unemployed 37-year-old is now accused of 20 more offences including unlawfully using an instrument to procure the miscarriage of a girl under 13.

His other new charges are seven counts of raping a girl under 13, two of conspiracy to rape a girl under 13, one of raping a girl under 16, one of rape, two of sexual assault of a girl under 13, one of a serious sexual assault, two of arranging or facilitating prostitution, one of trafficking a girl within the UK, causing actual bodily harm and supplying heroin to a child.

Bassan Karrar, a security guard of no fixed address, has already been charged with rape and is now charged with eight new offences including trafficking a girl within the UK.

The new charges faced by the 32-year-old are three counts of rape of a child under 13, rape, arranging or facilitating the prostitution of a girl under 13 in the UK, arranging or facilitating the prostitution of a girl under 16 in the UK, trafficking a girl within the UK, conspiracy to rape a girl under 13 and conspiracy to rape a girl under 16.

All the charges relate to the same alleged victim, who cannot be identified, and are said to have taken place between 2004 and this year.

The majority of alleged offences are said to have taken place in Oxford, but two charges are listed as High Wycombe and Reading.

Neither defendant made a bail application and District Judge Andrew Vickers remanded them both in custody.

The brothers are next scheduled to appear at Amersham Courthouse, part of Aylesbury Crown Court, on Friday, June 22.

The other men charged in connection with the investigation are 26-year-old Kamar Jamil, of Aldrich Road, North Oxford; 31-year-old Akhtar Dogar, of Tawney Street, East Oxford; Zeshan Ahmed, 26, of Palmer Road, Wood Farm, and 30-year-old Anjun Dogar of Tawney Street, East Oxford. The four men are all in custody and will appear with the Karrars at June 22.
