THIS is the face of the teenager accused of murdering a man in Rose Hill.

Haydan O’Callaghan appeared at Oxford Magistrates’ Court yesterday charged with killing Aaron Buron in St Martin’s Road on Saturday night.

The 18-year-old also stands accused of assault occasioning actual bodily harm to fellow teenager Latasha Peck on the same evening.

O’Callaghan, of Saunders Road, East Oxford, appeared from custody in a black Adidas tracksuit top and spoke only to give his personal details and confirm his understanding of proceedings.

He was not required to enter a plea.

Mr Buron died after being stabbed in the chest.

In front of a public gallery packed with members of 29-year-old Mr Buron’s friends and family, prosecutor Mohamed Sheikh told magistrates the case could only be dealt with at the Crown Court.

He said: “As you are no doubt aware, a bail application can only be heard in the Crown Court by the judge.

“The custody time limit is October 2.”

Defence solicitor Mark Dixon made no representations.

Chairman of magistrates Elizabeth Harrison told the defendant they could not consider any bail application and told him he will next appear at Oxford Crown Court today. She said: “You will be sent to the Crown Court.”

Ahead of the hearing, Mr Buron’s family released a tribute to him through police.

It read: “To our much-loved little soldier Aaron, our protector. Much-loved son, brother, dad, family member and friend. What will we do without you?

“You will never know how much we love and miss you, our hearts are broken.

“You will be forever with God.

“Aaron, you could walk into a room and light it up with your smile and presence.

We love you, sweet dreams and God bless.”
