OXFORD Mail snapper Ed Nix is among photographers set to showcase the drama, glamour and excitement of Oxford Fashion Week.

His images will be part of an exhibition at the O3 Gallery at Oxford Castle from the 2009 and 2010 shows.

Gallery manager Helen Statham said: “We are really excited about having this exhibition, it offers a real sneaky peek at how the fashion week runs.

“There are shots from the runway shows from last year, but also interesting images from backstage, with models rushing to get dressed and on the catwalk.”

The gallery will also be running a series of discussions, shows and gigs around the theme of ethical fashion during Oxford Fashion Week, which starts on February 28.

Miss Statham said: “It’s really hectic getting everything ready, but we have some fantastic events lined up that people will hopefully love.”

She said: “There is quite a stigma around art and fashion that it’s all an inside game, when it’s not at all.

“Hopefully people can come along and enjoy a bit of colourful fashion and art in the coming month, whatever their background.”

Mr Nix, from East Oxford, will showcase three images from the catwalk.

He said: “It’s always really good fun to be involved with Oxford Fashion Week and it’s easy to get a great shot because there’s so much going on.”

Fashion Week spokesman Charlotte Bushnell said: “The images illustrate the pure excitement of the runway shows, the drama of the lighting, the thrill of the clothes and the splendour of the makeup. At the same time they allow us an interesting glimpse behind the scenes, backstage at the runway shows.”

Photographers range from young talent such as Tom Johnson and Sonali Campion to established artists including John Cairns and Tony Culshaw.

The exhibition will run from Friday, February 19, until March 20.

Oxford Fashion Week will feature 16 events with more than 80 models and 98 designers and speakers.
