THREE men who filmed themselves sexually assaulting an unconscious woman in what was labelled a “truly sickening incident” have been jailed for a total of 15 years.

The 23-year-old victim was raped and suffered a serious sexual assault in a flat in Bullingdon Road, East Oxford, after agreeing to meet the men for a drink.

The offences only came to light two weeks later when one of the men showed the woman mobile phone footage because she had passed out during the evening.

Nicholas Jones, 26, earlier admitted a serious sexual assault, sexual assault and voyeurism.

Feizal Ali, 26, was convicted by a jury of a serious sexual assault, and the leader of the attackers, Mohammed Shahjahan, 27, was convicted of rape and a serious sexual assault.

At yesterday’s sentencing at Oxford Crown Court, Neil Moore, prosecuting, said the victim had agreed to meet Ali and his friends on November 14 last year.

He said: “She can recall having three vodka and Red Bulls.

“She passed out and can recall no more of that even-ing.”

Mr Moore said film shot on a mobile, filmed around 11pm, and a still image from 2.10am from Jones’s phone showed what happened.

He said the trio used “dominating sexual language directed at the victim who is unconscious” as she is seen to “whimper” and make “a couple of feeble attempts” to push them away.

Mr Moore added: “Shahjahan desists from it and can be heard saying ‘***** this, man. Nick, there you go, all there, what did I tell you, did I not keep my promise?’”

The still photo showed Shahjahan, of Slaymaker Close, Headington, lying on top of the victim on a bed.

Two weeks later, with the victim still unaware of the attack, Jones, of White Road, Cowley, “apologised for what had happened” and showed her the mobile clips.

John Riley, defending father-of-one Shahjahan, said: “He realises he’s let his family down and he’s ashamed of that.

“He was drunk and had taken drugs earlier in the evening.”

Judge Julian Hall remarked: “He’s an arrogant young man. To use an old-fashioned phrase, he regards himself as God’s gift to women.”

Lucy Tapper, defending Ali, originally of Howard Street, East Oxford, but now living in Ilford, said her client had made “very bad errors of judgement” that were an “aberration on his otherwise unblemished character”.

Richard Fisher, defending Jones, said: “Jones’s candour in interview and candour with the complainant are perhaps more indicative of his character than the despicable acts which took place.”

Judge Hall remarked: “This was a quite disgraceful incident which would never have come to light but for the fact he preserved a film of it.”

Shahjahan was jailed for eight and a half years, Jones for three years and six months and Ali for three years.

Judge Hall said “leader of this team of three” Shahjahan was an “extremely arrogant young man” whose behaviour was “heartless, shameless and without any consideration for her at all”.

Outside court Det Insp Simon Morton called it a “truly sickening incident”.

He added: “The victim’s courage, strength and determination has been incredible.

“I just hope for her, the justice system has worked and that she can now start to move on with her life.”
