Staff at a sports centre are to keep a diary of antisocial behaviour in a bid to hit back at yobs who vandalised vehicles in the complex car park.

The Park, in Holton, near Wheatley, was targeted by teenage vandals who walked and jumped on the bonnets and roofs of three cars, causing thousands of pounds of damage.

One member, Marie Spriggs, of Risinghurst, returned to her Vauxhall Agila in the car park to find the wing mirrors ripped off.

The incident happened in March a week after a standoff between about seven teenagers and skate hockey players, who practise at the centre.

No arrests have been made.

Pc Paul Gregory, who is leading the investigation, met Park staff to discuss how to improve security.

Possible measures include installing CCTV cameras, extra lighting in the car park, hiring more staff and having more control over who enters the building.

Pc Gregory said patrols had been stepped up in the area and staff were keeping a log of antisocial behaviour incidents.

He said: "We met staff and made suggestions and recommendations which will be discussed between us all.

"We will meet again in a month to forward these suggestions and act on any discussions that have been made.

"It is important for everyone to realise we are collecting evidence of antisocial behaviour and it will be used to bring prosecutions and antisocial behaviour contracts and orders against those responsible."

The duty manager at the sports centre declined to comment.

Anyone with information is asked to call Pc Gregory on 08458 505505.

Alternatively, calls can be made to Crimestoppers in confidence on 0800 555111.
