A MAN who 'callously' took advantage of his neighbour's death by breaking into his flat and taking his car was today convicted at Oxford Magistrates' Court.

Peter Saville, also known as Peter Currie, of no fixed abode, was, at the time of the incident, residing in a neighbouring flat to the deceased man in London Road, Wheatley.

The 40-year-old broke into the man's flat on Tuesday, March 6, and stole cash and car keys before taking his vehicle from the car park outside.

On Thursday, March 8, Saville was charged with burglary, taking a motor vehicle without the owner's consent and driving without a licence and insurance.

He had pleaded guilty to all the offences.

Investigating Officer, Detective Sergeant Aidan Donohoe said: "This is a callous offence by Peter Saville who at the time of the incident was staying at an adjoining flat to the deceased victim.

"Saville has taken advantage of the death of the victim to enter his flat and steal a small amount of cash and keys to the deceased's car which he has also then taken from the small car park outside."
