COMMUTERS reported gridlock across Oxford this morning, thought to be linked to roadworks at Frideswide Square.
Drivers were stuck on Abingdon Road, Botley Road, Thames Street and Oxpens on the approach to Frideswide Square, some at standstill, for more than an hour.
Traffic across the rest of the city was more or less normal.
Frustrated motorists reported the problems all seem to be down to temporary traffic lights on Frideswide Square.
Oxfordshire County Council is currently repairing damaged pavements in the square in front of the train station.
The seven-week project, which started on February 11, is the fifth time workmen have returned to the square since the £6.7m redesign was completed in December 2015.
