POLICE have dropped a murder charge against a man they suspected of killing a 16-year-old boy in Oxford.

A murder investigation was launched following the fatal stabbing of Harun Jama in Friars Wharf on January 3.

On January 7, Craig Ford and Alice Ashcroft were charged in connection with the incident.

Ford, 33, of Luther Street, Oxford, was charged with one count of murder, one count of robbery, one count of possession of a bladed article and two counts of possession with intent to supply class A drugs.

Ashcroft, 25, of Luther Street, Oxford, has been charged with two counts of possession with intent to supply class A drugs.

Following a review of the case by the CPS and Thames Valley Police on last Tuesday, the charges of murder, robbery and possession of a bladed article against Ford have now been discontinued.

He remains charged with two counts of possession with intent to supply class A drugs.
