RESIDENTS have been urged to attend a special meeting to discuss plans for a major new housing estate planned on the outskirts of Oxford.

Kennington Parish Council is hosting the meeting at the village hall on Monday night for locals to air their views about the 288-home proposal.

Many villagers have already expressed concern about the Redrow Homes scheme a farmer's field on the southern edge of Kennington.

Resident Bettina Wittneben urged others to join Monday's meeting, saying: "It is absolutely critical that this planning application is reviewed in detail.

"Will the parish council commission an independent assessment to ensure the wellbeing of current and future residents?

"Radley is already being faced with two more major developments – North West Radley and North Abingdon – and we fear the cumulative increase in traffic is not being considered by the planning application."

Monday's meeting will be open from 6.30pm for people to look at the plans and discussion will begin at 7pm.
