WOMEN'S rights campaigner and assassination attempt survivor Malala Yousafzai has this week started at Oxford University.

The 20-year-old, who was shot in the head in her native Pakistan by a member of the Taliban when she was 12 years old, won a place at Lady Margaret Hall in August.

She will be studying Oxford's famous Philosophy, Politics and Economics course, long the standard degree for students wanting to go into government.

She tweeted: "Packing for university, any tips?" with the hashtag #HelpMalalaPack and recieved 4,700 responses including 'bring flip flops to wear in the shower'.
