A DEER was freed by firefighters after being trapped in metal fence railings yesterday.

The little Bambi was stuck in the fence in Marston Ferry Road at 10.15am.

Firefighters from three stations across the city were called to the scene and the railings were widened so the deer could be released back into the wild.

Station Manager Paul Webster said: "The fire and rescue service respond to a variety of rescues involving pets, livestock and wild animals.
"Animals in distress can pose a potential risk to the public, members of other agencies and to firefighters."
