DORY the 11-month-old Jackadoodle lapped up the attention after coming out on top in an annual canine extravaganza.

Bridge House Care Home in Abingdon hosted its annual Scruffs dog show last week, but this year there was no need to fear prize-nabbing squirrels.

In 2015, the category of 'quickest to find the sausage' was scuppered after a cheeky animal ran off with the meat.

But this year it was the dogs who took centre stage, with categories including 'waggiest tail' and 'least obedient'.

Organiser Chantelle Oswin, lifestyle co-ordinator at the home, said: "It was a wonderful event, and we had nearly 80 people made up of residents, relatives and community.

"We didn't have anything unexpected happen like the squirrel visit but we did have a lovely variety of very cute dogs.

"There is nothing like this in the area and it attracted lots of attention and enjoyment.

"Our winner Dory was the star of the show and performed amazing tricks that would be fit for Britain's Got Talent."

The judging panel included Jim Hall, 86, Dora Hallett, 90, and 84-year-old Pam Thompson.

Mrs Oswin added: "We enjoyed hot dogs and cupcakes and everyone really what is a memorable event and a dog lovers favourite."
