Despite a dry, bright start to Friday, warnings for both snow and flooding affecting Oxfordshire are still in place this morning.

While today is expected to see sunny spells throughout, the Met Office has predicted a chilly weekend with highs of just 6 ° in Oxford.

It is set to be cloudy throughout with lengthy periods of rain on Saturday.

A yellow warning of snow affecting the whole of the United Kingdom is still active, meaning people should take care when out and about and expect possible localised travel disruption.

At the same time the Environment Ageny still has a flood warning in place for the River Thames and tributaries at Wolvercote in Oxford.

A statement on the website reads:  "The River Thames in the Wolvercote area has risen in response to recent rainfall. However whilst levels remain high they are now stable. Some property flooding is still possible very close to the river."

The message is set to be updated later this morning. A total of nine less severe 'flood alerts' affecting Oxfordshire are also still active.
