RESIDENTS at Iffley Residential and Nursing Home took to the silver screen as they put on their own rendition of The Sound of Music.

The Rodgers and Hammerstein musical was recreated by people at the home and filmed in front of their loved ones on Friday.

Some residents acted while others worked on the set and helped make sure everything went to plan on the big day.

Eric Neale, who turned 96 on Thursday, was one of those who took part.

He said: “The Sound of Music project has been so enjoyable and I’m so pleased I took part.

“I always try to involve myself in creative activities where I can and this was no exception.

“I helped paint the backdrop for the stage and also loved singing Do-Re-Me in the film shoot.”

He was joined by 100-year-old Frederick Clapton, who took part in the famous wedding scene with Rose Turner from care organisation Ladder to the Moon.

He said: “Ladder to the Moon were absolutely wonderful.”
