HOSPITAL porters have voted in favour of strike action in a row over pay and conditions.
Porters at the John Radcliffe Hospital voted 100 per cent in favour of taking industrial action in the ballot, which closed on July 3.
It is understood 57 of the staff voted in the strike ballot.
The decision comes in the wake of proposals from private health company Carillon.
The firm wants to cut staff and wages, and change shift patterns. It is estimated about 70 porters could be affected by the proposals.
Carillion has previously said the planned changes would "improve the efficiency" of portering services and improve patient care, but did not say how this would be done.
A meeting will be held tomorrow for porters to discuss their next steps.
