Upper branches of six plane trees lining Castle Street were chopped down this week in preparation for works at the Westgate Shopping Centre.
As part of the complex's £440m redevelopment, the trees will be cut down when the pavements and bus stops in the street are overhauled. The timber will be donated to charity.
As reported in the Oxford Mail, Pathway Workshop in Blackbird Leys already received wood from developer Westgate Oxford Alliance last month.
