DIGGERS have moved in to begin work on the site of what will become Oxford’s third Waitrose.

Builders moved onto the site to do preparation work before the construction of the supermarket begins on April 27.

The demolition of the former Halfords and MFI building was completed before Christmas.

The store will have 150 parking spaces and is expected to create 160 new jobs.

It will also be significantly smaller than the previous buildings on the site and last year planning permission for the new store was granted on the condition a pedestrian crossing is paid for by Waitrose.
