Two men accused of raping a woman after a night out have been found not guilty by a jury.
Roy Sinclair, of Palmer Road, Headington, and 50-year-old Winston Nichol, of Morton Road, London, were both cleared of two counts of rape yesterday.
Sinclair, 36, was also cleared of attempted rape by a jury in Oxford Crown Court after a seven-day trial and 10 hours and 39 minutes of deliberating.
It was alleged by the complainant, who cannot be named for legal reasons, that the two men raped her at the same time at Sinclair’s flat after a night out on January 5 this year. But during the trial Sinclair told the jury there was “no truth” in the claims and said he had refused the woman’s request that he have sex with her.
