TWO men arrested on suspicion of rape after reports a man was attacked in an alleyway near New Inn Hall Street are still in custody.

Thames Valley Police said it happened at around midnight and the victim was a 23-year-old man.

They said two men, aged 20 and from Oxford, have been arrested on suspicion of rape and were still being questioned this morning.

A member of staff at Oxford University's History Faculty in New Inn Hall Street said the police had informed them there had been an "incident" in a neighbouring property on the corner of George Street.

Bubbal Beauty Parlour had its entrance blocked by the police cordon all day.

A manager said: "We are struggling with that because people can’t get in all day. We are having to use another entrance instead.

"The police are not telling us anything about what it is. We have no idea what’s happened."
