CHILDREN celebrated their heroes from fiction yesterday at the Story Museum’s new exhibition.

Brothers Alexander Laird, eight, and Will, 10, donned a mix of costumes in rooms themed around characters selected by authors such as Children’s Laureate Malorie Blackman and young fiction writer Anthony Horowitz.

Will said: “The dress up part was my favourite. I liked the bear costume, pictured, because it’s a onesie as well and really snugly.

“There were different rooms which were really cool too. There was one for Lord of the Rings which had trees and leaves scattered all over it from a part of one of the films.”

Their mother Nicky, 42, of North Oxford, said: “They had a fantastic time because I think they expected museums to be boring, but not this one.

“The boys tried on about 10 different costumes.

“It was great fun for everybody.”
