They’re not usually little monsters, but children at Rye St Antony school have been becoming characters in their own fairy tales.

The primary school pupils were given a workshop in storytelling by Oxfordshire children’s author Adam Guillain, who visited the school in Pullens Lane, North Oxford.

Gigi Anderson, nine, said: “It was a really interesting way of telling a story because we got to play. It was fun.”

The workshop included working out how stories are built using a technique called story-mapping.

Rosanna Mitchell, nine, said: “I really enjoyed the story-mapping because I could see how the story was put together.”

Mr Guillain and his wife Charlotte are co-authors of the popular children’s story book Spaghetti with the Yeti. As well as penning their own books, the pair also help out at the Oxford Story Museum on Pembroke Street.

Mrs Guillain taught English to air traffic controllers and nurses before switching to publishing.
