Video: Family set up charity for Amy Reynolds including tribute song with video

THE family of a 26-year-old Wheatley woman killed in a smash on Oxford’s ring road have set up a charity in her memory.

Remembering Amy hopes to raise cash for the good causes supported by Amy Reynolds, who was killed when her VW Golf left the A40 northern bypass on January 19.

And relatives hope to raise more money with a song in her memory and a charity evening at a pub she once worked at.

Cousin Louise Trueman, 27, said: “I guess I feel a strong sense of injustice that Amy died in her accident and that as the one living I need to live for us both.

“But more than that, Amy was the kindest, most caring person who spent her working life helping others. I feel that her early death shouldn’t hinder the amazing things she would have done in her life.

“I also feel those people she would have helped should still be helped.”

County charities who help disadvantaged children and families and those who need rehabilitation centres will benefit, she said.

“Through this charity Amy will continue to make the impact she made in life. So many Oxfordshire people are chipping in to support Amy.

“She was known and loved by so many and people just want to continue showing this.”

The former Sandhills Primary and Wheatley Park School pupil – who had worked at Wheatley’s John Watson School – was an “integral part” of the family, said Louise.

She added: “We are extremely close – my cousins are more like brothers and sisters.

“Being a girl and so close in age, myself and Amy were inseparable through our childhood years, to teenagers and into adult life.”

The song – RIP Ami Reynolds – features friends and family and is now available on iTunes and can be viewed at oxfordmail.co.uk It opens with the words: “This song dedicated to one of the most loving, caring, and unselfish people you will ever meet.”

Among the good causes that will benefit is the Ley Community rehabilitation centre in Yarnton, where she worked.

Amy’s Evening will be held at the Mason’s Arms in Quarry School Place, Headington Quarry, on Saturday, July 6, at 7pm. The £10-a-head event will feature an auction, raffle, disco and roast. For information call the pub on 01865 764579.

An inquest was opened and adjourned into Amy’s death in January.
