Cannabis plants seized in Headington raid

A CANNABIS farm and a suspected drug den in Oxford have been raided by police.

Growing equipment and 18 plants were seized at a property in Hawthorne Avenue, Headington, on Tuesday. Police estimate the street value was about £10,000.

A 25-year-old man was arrested at the property and has been released on police bail. And a second warrant under the Misuse of Drugs Act was carried out at a home in Turner Close, Oxford, on the same day.

A 32-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class B drugs after police found a large quantity of cannabis. He has subsequently been released on police bail.

The warrants were carried out under Operation Bilbo.

Sgt Gordon Kille said: “Drugs are a huge priority for the team and we will continue to crack down on those supplying and trading in them.”

Anyone who knows any information about this incident and of drug dealing in Oxford should contact the police via the non-emergency number, 101 or call the Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111.
